Letter from the Administrator on Admissions

One of the least known concepts of the Montessori Method is that Montessori is a well planned three year program, (two years of pre-school and one year Kindergarten). Unfortunately, not all parents find out about our school until a child is over three and adjustments have to be made.

Due to the excellent reputation our Kindergarten Program has, we are getting an increased number of calls from parents and agencies wanting to know how to enroll a child in this program. However, our Kindergarten program can not be offered to a child without at least one year of Montessori, two being preferred. Almost all our students are already reading and have had concrete presentations in Math. Therefore, our Kindergarten Program begins at a more advanced level.

It is unfortunate if a child has the beginning Montessori work and is denied the final Kindergarten year, which brings together all previous experiences. It is impossible for a four year old to finish all of the Montessori materials available.

Our children work independently, have a good concentration span, are self-motivated and love to learn. They carry these qualities with them into the elementary and upper grades and do very, very well.

Respectfully yours,

Jo Miller-Cole
