Kenosha Montessori School Enrollment Guidelines

CRITERIA FOR SELECTING STUDENTS:

First preference is given to students wishing to re-enroll and their siblings.  Next preference is given to children having had Montessori experience elsewhere.  Beyond that, preference is given to children 2 ½ to 4 years old, it being desirable that the student be in the school at least two years.  All children must be fully toilet trained upon admission to KMS.  Admission to the Kindergarten and Elementary Programs is contingent upon prior pre-school Montessori experience of at least one year, with two years being preferable.  Exception to these criteria is at the discretion of the Directress and the Administrator.

APPLICATIONS:

Those wishing to apply should fill out an application form that will be sent upon request.  No applications will be considered unless accompanied by the appropriate registration fee, which is refundable only if the child is not approved for entry into the school.  No child will be admitted until the application, complete with registration fee is on file.  Applications will be processed according to the date received.

REGISTRATION:

Registration for the next academic year takes place the second week in January for returning students and their siblings.  Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.  The registration fee is required to maintain your child’s spot for the upcoming school year, and is non-refundable.  Students with prior Montessori may apply at this time.  Any spots that remain open will become available to the general public at KMS’s January Open House on a first-come, first-served basis.  When all spots have been filled, a waiting list will be maintained and openings will be filled in order from that list.  An informational letter about registration will be sent home in December to our current families.

TRANSFER STUDENTS:

Transfer students must fill out a transfer of records request in the school office upon registration.  If after 15 business days, the records have not been received, this may result in immediate dismissal.

PRE-SCHOOL INTERVIEW:
All acceptances are dependent upon the teacher-parent-child interview.  A date prior to the start of school will be arranged for the interview to take place.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD:

The first six (6) weeks of attendance at KMS by a student is a probationary period.  During this time, either the parents or the Directress may request that the child be withdrawn from the school.
